When a loved one or friend dies, a memorial gift can be given in memory of the deceased to the Outer Banks Relief Foundation. The family of the deceased will be written a letter in regard to your gift. We will in turn write you and thank you for remembering the Outer Banks Relief Foundation, Inc. Your living memorial will be placed in our foundation’s Book of Remembrance along with your name.
In lieu of giving a loved one a gift on a special occasion such as birthday or Christmas, an honorarium can be given in honor of the person’s special day. Your honorarium will be acknowledged with a letter to the person being honored. We will in turn write you and thank you for remembering the Outer Banks Relief Foundation, Inc. Your honorarium will be placed in our foundation’s Book of Remembrance along with your name.
Sustained Giving – Endowment Funds
A donation to an Endowment Fund is one that will continue to grow and assist in sustaining our Relief Foundation for future generations. Because endowments are permanent, you can rest assured knowing your endowment gifts will support the Relief Foundation’s mission of helping to assist citizens in our Outer Banks community who are burdened with financial difficulties due to a debilitating disease or illness, or a personal tragedy or crisis to themselves and/or their families in perpetuity. Currently we have two Endowment Funds.
In 2016, The Warren Cameron Judge III Endowment Fund was created in memory of and to the late civic leader who served this community in extraordinary ways. Judge led countless community initiatives that improved the lives of his neighbors in immeasurable ways. The fund is held at the Outer Banks Community Foundation and will provide perpetual support for the Relief Foundation’s program, operating or capital needs. To donate to this fund, click on the link https://www.obcf.org/donate-now/, and select option ” Other Fund”, then select the The Warren Cameron Judge III Endowment Fund.
The Outer Banks Relief Foundation Fund was established as an endowment from a generous donation through the Winston-Salem Foundation to provide future funding to support the mission and maintenance of our Foundation.
There are numerous charity fundraising events throughout the year that directly benefit the Outer Banks Relief Foundation. We have popular charity sporting events like our Sandbar 5k Race, and other popular races like the Outer Banks Marathon, Half Marathon, and Triathalon. In addition, we have a popular charity social event called the Couture by the Shore Spring Fashion Show. There are many other supporting events throughout the year. See our Event Calendar for upcoming events.
COMMUNITY SERVICES COLLABORATIVE
A project of the Outer Banks Relief Foundation, the Community Services Collaborative, led by Surf Club member Patty McKenna, is a group of local human services providers who began meeting several years ago to identify & implement needed collaborative projects. They are committed to working together with all the helping and outreach agencies and groups in our community, to minimize duplication of effort, and to maximize our limited resources by working together for the benefit of all our citizens and our Dare County community. The creation of a single, up-to-date source of local human services information was identified as the top goal of the group.
In 2012, NC 2-1-1 was launched to provide free and confidential information to callers and those who visit the NC 2-1-1 website on available human services in Dare County.
