If you would like to make a Bequest Gift in a Will or Trust to the Outer Banks Relief Foundation, please include the following bequest language in your will or trust. It is very important to use this specific wording. Please share this information with your attorney or other adviser.

“I give and bequeath [Description of Asset] to the Outer Banks Relief Foundation, Inc, federal tax ID number 56-2526271.”

Note: Description of Asset may be “the residue of my estate,” a specific dollar amount, a percentage of the remainder of the estate, or other property (e.g., stock, real estate).

1) Warren Cameron Judge III Fund for the Outer Banks Relief Foundation

Our Warren Cameron Judge III Fund for the Outer Banks Relief Foundation is an endowment fund that is professionally managed by the Outer Banks Community Foundation, which holds over 175 endowments for donors, businesses, and nonprofits like ours. The Community Foundation accepts gifts to our fund, prudently invests our fund, and provides us with sustainable, reliable annual income through fund earnings. As our endowment funds grow, so, too, can we grow and better meet our mission.

The Community Foundation can accept many different types of gifts for our endowment, including real estate assets, stock gifts, retirement plan assets, life insurance policies, and IRA rollover gifts. The Community Foundation can also facilitate charitable remainder trusts and charitable lead trusts to benefit our endowment. Many of these strategies can provide significant tax advantages, including income tax deductions, capital gains tax avoidance, estate tax avoidance, etc.

2.  Outer Banks Relief Foundation Fund at The Winston-Salem Foundation

Our Outer Banks Relief Foundation Fund at The Winston-Salem Foundation is an endowment fund that is professionally managed by The Winston-Salem Foundation. Since their establishment in 1919, The Winston-Salem Foundation has responsibly managed the philanthropic contributions of thousands of donors. They currently administer over 1,300 endowed and non-endowed funds and are a unique financial steward. As our endowment funds grow, so, too, can we grow and better meet our mission.

The sample bequest language below is provided to assist donors and their attorneys in making gifts to a fund at The Winston Salem Foundation. Pleaseconsult your attorney before executing a new will or a codicil to your existing will. Our Philanthropic Services department can work with you to create a Revocable Trust Agreement specifying which organizations and interests you would like your bequest to support.

Upon the death of ______________________, (assets named in the bequest) will
be distributed to THE WINSTON-SALEM FOUNDATION, EIN 56-6037615, to
add to The Outer Banks Relief Foundation Fund and administered as provided in an agreement
between THE WINSTON-SALEM FOUNDATION, INC. as Trustee for THE WINSTON-SALEM FOUNDATION, and the Grantor. If no such agreement is in existence, the Fund shall be administered as the Foundation Committee of THE WINSTON-SALEM FOUNDATION shall determine.
