Nags Head, NC –The Outer Banks Relief Foundation, a charitable organization financially assisting people in need due to a debilitating medical condition who live and work on the Outer Banks, has announced the selection of Patty McKenna as its new executive director. Patty will fill the vacancy created by Chris Kelley’s departure last year. The selection was made after a regional and local search and selection process, during which Patty served on the Board of Directors.
“We are very pleased to announce this appointment,” reported John B. Gillam, III, president and co-founder of the Outer Banks Relief Foundation. “This is a red-letter day in the history of our foundation. Patty’s proven leadership and her ability to work with others is going to be an asset to our foundation’s future; not just an asset, but exactly what we need as the next generation leads the Outer Banks Relief Foundation into the future.”
Patty began her career at Social Compact, a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit that provides tools to increase private investment in lower-income neighborhoods nationwide. More recently, Patty has served as the chair of the Community Services Collaborative, a networking organization for Outer Banks helping groups, and as interim executive director of Outer Banks Sporting Events. She also previously served on the board of Interfaith Community Outreach.
“I look forward to continuing to serve and partner with the area’s nonprofit organizations in this new capacity,” remarks Patty. “I am dedicated to this foundation because it provides vital human services and assistance to my neighbors when they need it most.”
